This is ON Topic. I got caught up in posting replies to others and forgot what I wanted to share with everyone.

We're all so caught up in the downturn that we forget that things are still being changed by the Internet in remarkable ways that will ultimately benefit Cisco and its share price.

biz.yahoo.com

Blockbuster is shifting its strategy to focus on retailing as a means for future growth and viability. This is not a short term shift away from rentals, but it is a major core strategy shift. They don't say it in the article, but you can read between the lines. Blockbuster sees the future. They know that just as 2002 marked the year where their contracts were renegotiated with major Hollywood studios to allow the studios to market movies directly to customers over IP using true Video On Demand such as iControl available through Time Warner, the future will see their rental sales steadily decrease as more and more people sign up for digital cable or start downloading movies over the internet through approved rental sites like moviefly or intertainer.

All of this means one thing: the demand and now the steady march of increased supply of Video On Demand is going to translate into huge bandwidth consumpt, which consequently, will translate into stepped up capital spending on networking gear. With Cisco's dominant position in this gear, they will eat up the lion's share of the profits.

Now let's just hope that the increased profits aren't split over so many darn shares that it doesn't make a difference. :)

OT...>>> But the Israeli's kill one murderous Palestinian bastard (who's responsible for hundreds of Israeli deaths )along with a few Palestinian civilians and the U.S. and the whole world is OUTRAGED. What a joke.<<<<

It ain't no joke to the 17 dead civilians and children that were killed with him.

The Israeli's are plain stupid...why use a one ton bomb at night in a crowded residential neighborhood????

They could have used a sniper team....

If you think killing all these children is OK...well we are on different sides of the fence on this one.

Mindmeld,

[W]hen did Americans start electing people without common sense or an iota of moral fiber to the highest offices of our land

People vote with their pocketbooks, plain and simple. We, as a populace, want the government to give us everything, but we are unwilling to pay for it.

The biggest crock is the huge COLAs being handed out to Social Security recipients and Civil Servants/Military. I was under the impression that "inflation" was in check? If so, how come their COLA was around 5%?
