It, of course, won't surprise you to know my take is quite different. In both of the above cases--Washington Times and Fox News--they demonstrate how bad the media can actually be when its mission is explicitly political.

right of center = explicitly political
left of center = objective and apolitical

I think there is more than just a political agenda for these media organizations. There is also a huge economic advantage in catering to a political right when there are currently few outlets for such opinions on prime time. Rupert Murdock (and the Fox Network) is as much a savvy business man as he is a political animal.

Explicitly political.

OR

Covertly political.

At least explicitly indicates truthfulness.

Covertly indicates secretiveness.

Perhaps the best thing that could happen is that each paper or other media, teach their version of the word "Propaganda"

Maybe then, there would be some truthfulness to the word "news"..

I know CNN is the height of political objectivity...
