Hi Bob,

Thanks for taking the time to pen that wonderful series of observations and speculations. You are hitting a lot of the right notes.

The one thing that would really be a wonderful addition to SI oeuvre, if they are slimming down for the sensible reasons you suggest, is to communicate with the members. If there is one thing that is completely annoying about the American management style from airlines, to Internet boards to government it is the profoundly mistaken notion that it is better to keep users in the dark. A little notice about the proposed changes and why they are occurring would have prevented a lot of needless second guessing.

Even to suggest that budget constraints caused the loss of certain features and that the core goal of SI would be maintained would be better than that secretive "Wizard of Oz" approach that is being taken. Anyway, that's my story, and I'm stickin' to it.....

-Ray

Bob, if ihub is doing so great...

what the heck are you doing slumming over here spending oodles of time making such long winded posts? Don't you have a new user name, I mean "official member" to welcome or another feature to implement?

You know your "member" numbers are bogus. You ever checked them member number by member number? I see you count members that are no longer alive (McBride), permanently suspended members and users with multiple names. How many have posted in the last three weeks? Maybe 5% max?
