Wow.

George Will really fired on 12 cylinders in that piece. Thanks for linking it.

The cultural relativism that gives rise to the fetish of multiculturalism -- "It is mere ethnocentric arrogance to say one culture is superior to any other" -- was incinerated by burning jet fuel.

My thoughts exactly--what a wonderful way to phrase them.

Of course, some cultures are better than others. Islamic culture, as envisioned by the Islamist radicals, is stagnant and repressive, particularly with respect to women.

How can any sentient human being believe that stagnation and misogyny are preferable to real freedom?

A bizarre essay, in many ways. I'm surprised to see it coming from Will, who I always thought had more intelligence than that.

It pains me a bit to see the heroism, nobility, and sacrifice of 9/11 twisted, like a round peg into a square hole, into an irrelevant argument in an extraneous debate. It seems to me to be a bit of an insult, though I suppose that some will disagree.
