Germany suffers from the effects of acid rain

and I believe that is behind much of the German view in politics. The environment is important. Germans too can say "you are either with us, or against us".

By Peter Finn

I was just at the point of searching the WP site for his latest article when you posted it. I think Finn is the best "Foreign Reporter" around right now. His last couple of stories have not been "Scoops," but his previous ones were. I have not seen his level of reporting out of anyone at "Mt Sinai." He really does his homework. Keep an eye on this guy, he will go far.

We will know shortly if this anti-war strategy worked for Schroeder. If he is re-elected, and we go into Iraq, I would not want to be German Businessman trying to collect a bill down there. W believes in loyalty.

Am wondering whether the Germans suffer from a defective gene that disconnects when their social pathology is confronted with judging leadership challenges.

Having lived through Hitler, these people should be first on the world stage to recognize the dangers of a pathological character like Saddam. It is becoming increasingly clear from the political rhetoric of their internal political debate, that the Germans have learned nothing. A 100 year flood fools the population more than their own historical record matched with a clear analog in the present.

That they are on the wrong side of this issue once again tells me that the collective german psyche must be defective, their fight or flight gene is just not working.

Cause and effect seems to be reversed.

The more things change; the more they stay the same; must be axiomatic to the germans.

PS I am 1/4 german and so this is not prejudicial in any way.
