AJ, A friend of mine bought an old British car on ebay. It was an MD TD and it had been a running car in good shape until stored about 40 years ago. That meant little was bad about it. Engine was siezed and fuel lines and tank corroded out, as was the canvas hood. All the wood was fine.
Now he puts around on it during the summer. he got it for $8000 US and now it is worth $20,000 with little work.
So the seller got a lot less than fair market value.

The mechanics of transport are another problem with cars on Ebay, esp if not roadworthy. The TD was trailered up to Toronto from Chicago for $600 by a company that moves 8-10 cars at a time on one of those big double decker trailers.
Apparently there is enough traffic between major cities to make occasional loads.

Now I am not at all sure that ebay cars is a success for anyone but Ebay and the buyers if prices are as low as my friends TD?.
I simple buy cars locally from dealer autoauctions off lease, since it is easy to beat the dealers and the general public is barred.(I have a friend with a dealer card to get me in)

I feel many sellers are also not happy with Ebay Autos. Parts business is quite viable though.

As for Ebay going down. You bet it will.
Esp if not making 20 cents this 1/4.

Bill

Al congrats to us both! Looking for another overvalued stock. I have been fortunate in nailing FNM IBM and now EBAY with puts---althoug I could have let those FNM's run longer. Looking for another overvalued stock that could crater. Open to suggestions. I was looking at FRX this morning before it caught a "buy recommend."

<<Last day of window dressing in a down market>>
I have been liquidating lots of little things for a couple of years now on ebay, and always have 4 or 5 things on ebay (little items) I am surprised that bids are way down. The last few auctions closed without much selling (in the past, almost everything has sold, same items, prices etc.) Interestingly, i think it was a week ago last thursday ebay offered their "Gallery" option for free for that one day only. I immediately thought that perhaps they did that to try to bolster a bad quarter. I was thinking of puts but the downgrade beat me to the punch. I haven't a position , but methinks this may be a good short, at least from a fundamental perspective, although I do like the company a lot.

regards,
Harpo

From a post I made 9/27 on another board:

village2000.com

I decided to look at EBAY's astros and fwiw:
Based on the April 28, 1998 incorporation in Delaware:

today Venus is squaring EBAY's Uranus. Also Mars is approaching an opposition to Jupiter which maybe could bring lawsuits.

Neptune is squaring EBAY"S Sun within 10 minutes..

With respect to EBAY's daily and weekly Chart: it is going to go in a direction in a big way... I think.... Based on the recent market history where they take stocks out to the woodshed and kill them one by one, I have made a smallish bet on the downside.\

Also, it sure looks like a massive head and shoulders formation to me.
