Bunk! Who would receive the subsidies? Those with the best lobbyists, of course. Uneconomical trash, only likely to prolong the necessary shakeout.

Let the market decide.

Some Leading Tech Stocks have been HAMMERED...here's the change in the closing price from January 2, 2001 to yesterday's closing price:

SUNW ($25.44 to $2.57): -89% (LOSS)
EMC ($54.31 to $4.88): -91% (LOSS)
CSCO ($33.31 to $10.05): -69% (LOSS)
ORCL ($26.37 to $8.31): -68% (LOSS)
NTAP ($51.44 to $7.03): -86% (LOSS).

IMHO, the 'buy and hold' philosophy will be history soon...It's a trader's market and A LOT of damage has been done.

regards,

-Scott

btw, I agree with you about 'The Broadband Subsidy' -- I think an intelligent and targeted one could do MUCH MORE for economy than the wonderful tax cuts that we've all started to receive...=)
