Science is based on the fact that different people can observe and check the same thing. Religion is based on somebody claiming to know something

But it can be based on everyone feeling the same thing and as we know from Jung-Myers-Briggs that's just as legitimate as thinking.

"Me the special knowing one and you the one who should follow me because I have the secret special knowledge which only I can know"

It would be interesting to actually know how ancient relgions evolved. I would think that probably priests were appointed because people had too many other useful things to do like work in their fields. Specialisation of labor.

Religion = irrational
Science = rational

Yes i can agree some aspects of science are rational. Many of its methods are not though...

<<Religion = irrational>>

Mqurice:

Isn't this part of the appeal? If you view religion as just a manifestation of the human tendency for tribal behavior, then professing belief in a religion's 'irrational' teachings is a sign of your mindless allegiance to the tribe and an expression of your willingness to forgo rational (ie, selfish) action for the good of the tribe.

<Religion is always fake because it is always based on "Me the special knowing one and you the one who should follow me because I have the secret special knowledge which only I can know". >

This is simply not the case... the Buddha warns NOT to do as he does, but that ANYONE can be a Buddha... [Jesus Christ to Westerners].

Not to be abusive, but your hard drive needs updating.

<But religion is exclusively pathological and irrational. >

A LOT of updating.

<Some fake scientists try to create an aura of super-sentience, but they are invariably found out and their Kingly claims to raiment of gold and silver thread are revealed for what they are by the little children pointing out that the King isn't wearing any clothes when the experimental repeatability is tested.>

ROFLMAO!!! Newton was REALLY into alchemy FYI.

<<Religion can't be tested. >

Ahhhhhh, now we're getting somewhere!!!!! So that which cannot be tested is PURE BUNK! The club of London would be turning over in their graves [no doubt are].

Look, Science has an ir-reproachable history... the entire concept is perhaps the most noble in the history of the planet!!! YES! YES! Born practically for the purpose of dubunking religious and other heresay often perpetuated by institutions [including governments and chuches] for their own means. NEVER has there been such an open, honest, self-correcting way to obtain objective knowlege as observable through the 5 senses as the scientific method!! NEVER! AND certainly not relgion!

However, any scientist would not be able to argue that this leaves 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of the universe yet to be figured out. AND, although science is certainly able to prove false certain aspects of some relgions.... they havent tested for god yet have they? They havent' proved the Buddha a fraud.... they haven't proved..... well, they havent, well, you get the picture.

Science is a fantastic tool.... but your premise that unscientific = false [or worse, scandelous] is simply a premis that any competant scientist would not make.

Science = rational

Yes

Religion = irrational

Prove it...
