I was going to direct this to thames, but you volunteered as a target.

First:
As far as the Israeli lobby is concerned, a
disaster in the Middle East might be the one thing that would at last bring a
discussion of its calamitous role into the open in the US.

Everything does have it good side.

BUT: We all know the US became a target because of its support of Israel. The only way out of that position is to stop supporting Israel. That eventually will condemn them to death. The Arabs had Israel on the ropes and would have destroyed it had it not been for US intervention.

So what are we to do here? The Arabs, the Palestinians in particular but hardly exclusively, have a stated goal of destroying Israel. If we do not back her up and supply arms, she and her people will be destroyed eventually.

And there's another question here: Shall US foreign policy be dictated in Amman and Tripoli and in the Arab street?
