Re democratic Gov.before you give them a truelly democratic electoral system consider the likely outcome. With out the proper preparation and education democracy would lead to civilwar or popular religious dictatorship.it is all too easy to fall into the trap of thinking that because democracy works for us it will work for everyone.Remember Hitler was democraticly elected.

i tire of guessing. what do you want america to do?

[I wish America would do something serious in palestine...]

what can america do? finance and build a 100 foot wall at the "borders" and dump billions of dollars into palestine for high rise apartments? no matter how abused a people or culture is, they can always get themselves educated (for jobs not mouth movements). do you think these people put education high on their priority list? i am inclined to think not. in the states we have lots of money and lots of educational opportunities, but we have some cultures right here who don't prioritize education highly. they just keep getting behind.

i ask you what do you want the usa to do with palestine? what are you doing over in italy? are you doing something for palestine?

chinton, "You can't eat religion" my Iranian friend told me a couple of weeks ago. Once a radical fundamentalist, now he only wishes dearly that the old men who abuse Iran would just fade away quietly into history. IMO it doesn't matter whether you are a Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, Shintoist, Hindu, naturalist, Sikh, Jew, LDS, or other denomination, you ultimately will come to that same conclusion.

Islamic fundamentalism has designed a great program to whip its followers into a fury, and......and....

.....and what? Okay hate the West. All right, I hate the West because they don't want to be like us- Now what do I do? Islamic fundamentalism has no rational program for future development. Bin Laden and Al Qaeda are just Verse Two ultimately of the 1979 Iranian Revolutionary fervor. Ultimately their fervor goes nowhere except to cause the deaths of millions of innocents.

Next, realistically, we need to help Afghanistan and Iraq economically before Palestine. Also the suicide bombing campaign that killed so many civilians in Israel, Hamas/Hezbollah sponsored, true, but not restrained by the Palestinian Authority- left a very bad taste in the mouths of western governments.

To help Palestine currently would be to reward fascists again. Best to wait for a new era of Palestinian leadership and then help them, give them the credit for building the first viable Palestinian State....
