Of course both are "shallow, fluff entertainment", and naturally completely inadequate to give an insight into the realities of a culture. Still, if Europeans thought all Americans were like the actors & actresses in Baywatch, they would be flocking your way for the jocks & beauties of their dreams. As it is, they see Sy Stallone as the stereotype American, especially his earlier characters like Rocky - muscled, well-meaning but not very gifted in the grey-cell department, nor really cultured or profound in his thoughts or motives. I know this is not true from my experience with Americans, so don't kill the messenger. Like many stereotypes, it is quite despicable. runs away fast! :)
