Obviously, it would change a lot
for Poet.

Do you really think so, at this point?

"What percentage of that damage would be undone by this apology?"

Christopher, of course, would benefit the most if his apology was absolutely sincere and if he dropped coy games around the incident. Those who would not accept such sincerity would naturally be addressed by Neo and others.

Would X still call people names? Would others still call X names? I'm sure of it (almost). X is her own person (or letter, or whatever). She exists separate from CH, and as I have already said...people deserve neither praise nor condemnation from the actions of others.

I'm sorry if I misinterpreted you. I honestly thought you were being intentional obtuse--I suppose because the "speculation" thing was received by me with a sense of bewilderment--perhaps because it is difficult for me to conceive of not being moved by sincerity and remorse. I don't "hate" Christopher" nor anyone on this thread. I think he is extremely bright. All of this "dehumanizing" nonsense about people not being "real" and such has caused a lot of distress, I think. SI is not some bloody space drama! It is just people sharing their thoughts and feelings publicly and privately and more intimately in many cases. so simple, really...

Since I don't think there's a snowball's
chance in the proverbial place of our ever finding out what would happen,

You're probably right. But I note that I have offered to participate in a combined set of apologies which recognize that there have been a number of people who have acted less well than they ideally should have, myself included. So now the task is to work on them to recognize their issues and be willing to apologize for them. I have just said I'm not about to be the only person accepting responsibility.

So now, whether or not apologies happen depends entirely on people other than myself.

Of course, since one of them is jla, you're probably right in your assessment. But let's just make sure the responsibility lies in the right place.
