Hello Snowshoe, <<BP ... contrary logic ... quake ... pipeline damage ... think about shorting some puts>>

May the Force be with you, and so will I (in for a penny, in for a dime ;0)

BTW, continuation of the horrid stories in HK, a potential client I had breakfast with this AM relates to me how he was propositioned over the weekend by a pretty real estate agent at coffee break during a open house in a new apartment complex - sex for HKD 2,000 (HK$ 7.8 = USD 1). He asked whether matters were that bad; response is yes. He asked whether this sex trade is a pervasive happening; response is yes.

Reference previous tale:

"My wife just interviewed for a secretary, and was told by an applicant, a 15-year veteran of the stock-clearing service, that she would settle for HKD 4-5,000 per month, because (a) she has not worked since February, (b) her skills are not relevant, (c) she is competing against new graduates at their starting wage, and (d) the starting wage in HK has rolled back to the time she started work 15 years ago (circa 1987).

Luckily, the lady owns her home outright, and her husband still has a job in the stock-clearing service. But she is worried that events may turn worse still."

BP also missed their production targets. Twice.

Used to be a premium for BP, that may be going away.

About 3.5 % yield.

John Browne was complaining that USA companies are in the line to get the Iraqi oil which the war is allegedly not about. John is the boss of BP. If BP doesn't get their share of the spoils, I'd be surprised if Tony Blair continues to back King George II's grab for the Iraqi oil.

If the USA companies get the oil, that'll give them cheap feedstocks and high profits, but BP will be stuck with their higher cost product.

John Browne will be seeking a greater share of the Iraqi oil. Tony Blair will be backing him.

Russia, France and others are grumpy about the oil grab.

They should push for Bill Clinton to be ensconced in one of Saddam's palaces as interim UN president while a reconstituted United Nations is designed, with their first country being Iraq, forming the nucleus of a new United Nations. That should be the headquarters. The oil should be a UN possession, used to fund Iraq's and UN development.

Jay, give Hu Jintao a call and tell him there's broad public support for it. He should be able to push the process.

Back to the Babylon!
