You shelter our outlaws and we shelter yours. A few miles from here is the northern end of the Soo line from Chicago where Al Capone made millions brewing whiskey during prohibition. A few miles south in the U.S. are the caves where Gabriel Dumont hid out after the Riel Rebellion (our Civil War).

What most Canadians fail to recognize is we would not exist in our present form without a large powerful friendly nation such as the U.S. to the south. The fact our similarities outweigh our differences and of course there are business reasons as well justify the nation for good and bad.

Net Returns
or
Strong and Free

When I said that Canadians desire peace more than Americans it was an observation, you characterize it as a criticism of the driving - if it is as you say the "Free World", why would it need a driver ? You assert that the people who rank press freedom, journalists, are nuts, the journalists in question are Reporters Without Borders, here is a link

news.bbc.co.uk

Are all journalists nuts or just these ones ?
The United States has been involved in numerous conflicts without the backing of other countries in the "Free World", inherited leadership notwithstanding.

Apparently the plan is to send lots of soldiers, blow up lots of bombs, much shooting, many missiles, Canada is not so sure that this will lead to peace.

FLQ
or
Pierre Laporte, James Cross

The FLQ created a national crisis in Canada by capturing James Cross and capturing and killing Pierre Laporte. This period, referred to as Black October represented one of the darkest periods in the Quebec/Canada relationship and forever changed the way that Canadians viewed themselves. Here is a link to the FLQ manifesto and another delineating the role that Jean Chretien played in the unfolding crisis back in 1970.

I am certain that Canada and the United States will continue to act in concert to advance the ideals of freedom, democracy and peace, our countries are more than the views of bureaucrats or the whims of leaders.
