And David is right. Christ NEVER suggested that one person should kill another. Those verses you quoted were from the Old Testament, specifically the books that Moses authored.

Tenchusatsu, no its you that is wrong. My original contention was that Islam is no more violent than Christianity. D.Ray challenged that by pointing out.....inappropriately I might add....that Christ did not encourage violence. So what......Christ is only one principal character in the Bible. There are many principle characters in the Bible some of whom did encourage violence.

As Mani pointed out, the Old Testament does call for violence and as far as I know, the Old Testament is still considered a part of the Bible. Furthermore, throughout history, adherents of Christianity have committed violence in the name of their religion just as adherents of Islam have committed violence in the name of their religion.

I argue there is no difference between the two religions when it comes to this issue. However, Christians would like to believe they are more non violent because it fits their pictures of Christianity. From what I can see, its just not true. Furthermore, I see little difference between the Muslim suicide bomber and the Christian [IRA] bomber whose death doesn't result from the bombing. The results are the same......death and destruction.

Tench re <<I sure hope you know that you took those Bible verses out of context.>>

No I don't know. Please explain.

Re <<Christ NEVER suggested that one person should kill another. >>

Well, fine. I guess you can use the same argument for Muhammad.

The point of contention was the one by David Ray, that Islam is a violent religion and needs to be condemned. Koran defines Islam, which is very similar to the Bible. Some of the verses, if taken literally, do encourage violence. My point was, the same goes for the Bible.

I did agree with him, that the current radicalized Islam, followed by portion (small portion IMO) of Moslems is wrong and should be condemned. I did brought up the suggestion that perhaps the recent violence of the east, and not the west, has more to do with culture than the religion they follow.

I was not trying to take anything out of context and insult anyone’s religion. I apologize for that.
