That big series of storms back to back - I think it was in 1996 - that was the first real blizzard situation I'd ever been in. We lived at the bottom of a hill on a cul-de-sac way out in Chantilly and it took several days for the trucks to plow us out. No four wheel drive. Ben got sick and we had to walk to CVS to get medicine - once we got out of our neighborhood the big roads were plowed. Man, it was cold! Luckily we got a ride back in a pickup truck. I vowed that my next vehicle would have four wheel drive. That's one reason I got the Discovery. A couple of years ago my mother was in a wreck and hit her head and was very disoriented, so I had to drive her to the hospital during an ice storm. Four wheel drive, diff lock, and antilock brakes - man, you really appreciate them in an ice storm. Not sure if the next vehicle will be another Disco, but four wheel drive is my friend.
