Ted Re... Her comments were not very controversial for those in WA state who chose not to misinterpret her.

Apparently, she also misinterpreted herself, as she put a completely different statement on her web site the next day, without any mention of how nice a guy OBL was.

As the representative of the second party, Vance chose to make political hay and misconstrue her comments but most people saw through his maneuvering.

Most people in Miss. think Trent was right also; however come next election, you can bet Murray will be explaing her words in a more precise and careful manner; especially if we go to war with Iraq.

If we give so much aid, then the question I think we need to ask ourselves is why is all this aid not getting us the goodwill we so very much need.

And if she would have said it that way, I wouldn't have had a problem. In fact, in her retraction, she did say the US was starting to put money into broadcasting or telling our side. Another one of GW great ideas I believe.

That's the point Ms. Murray was trying to make. Winning the war on terrorism will take more than just military might to win.

Hogwash. She voted against the war. She was trying to say the war could be won with just good deeds alone. Which is false, as the Taliban gov, OBL and the clerics controlled the media in Afghanistan, just as Saddam controls the media in Iraq. That is why we weren't getting our message out in Afghanistan, and won't in Iraq; and she apparently wasn't bright enough to understand that.

Ms. Murray's comments were not of a religious nature.

I didn't say they where. I used that as another example of a case where people are not allowed to say certain things at public school functions.

If we give so much aid, then the question I think we need to ask ourselves is why is all this aid not getting us the goodwill we so very much need. That's the point Ms. Murray was trying to make.

If that is the point that Ms. Murray was trying to make then it is a good point but she did a poor job of making it.
