I have heard this issue discussed on the weekend political shows (tort reform) as one topic the republicans intend to hit hard this year. By the time a new legislature comes in maybe it will be over for trial lawyers. John Kerry seems like the frontrunner for democratic party anyway.

I know of no other country where business suffers legal costs to the same extent as business does in the U.S.A.

On the other hand there is no other country in which it is so easy to set up your own business. We can either choose a government controlled model, in which starting your own, furniture business requires a year worth of permits, or we can freely allow you to make chairs, but if they break all too often and injure people, then I can sue your pants off.

Sure the system can be reformed, but the main problem seem to be cumbersome legal proceedings in which lawyers must show up in court for five minutes to simply enter a non-guilty plea (wasn't there a case out there of a court which had tripled the number of cases it heard by simply going electronic and allowing use of e-mail --properly autenticated of course--)

>> An ambulance chaser is going to run for President on the Democratic side <<

you mean another evil and despicable man is going to run for the nomination. what a bunch of filthy losers. practically every single candidate the dems offer up for president is a pro-partial-birth abortion evil-doer. both clintons, gore, lieberman, edwards, kerry, etc are all a bunch of filthy baby killers who don't even have the decency to vote against partial-birth abortions.

what an evil and wicked disgrace the democratic party has become! it is not surprising that jews are the single greatest source of funds to the democratic party and it is also no surprise that nearly every single jew in the senate and congress voted to allow the practice of partially delivering a full-term baby and then sticking scissors in the back of its head!
