Slacker,

Do you know the answer to the following, posed yesterday :

Could you explain the responsibilities for E911, carrier vs. local PSAP's. As Sprint explained it, they are ready and it is the local PSAPs who have not set up 911 services on their end. By ready, I mean they have location capability available in their network for all the newer handsets with GPSOne, so E911 becomes available for those devices as soon as the local counties set up the dispatching capability.

TIA,
Cooters

re: It seems pretty likely that the Nokia is the cause of the extension request.

Morning Slacker,

If PCS - hypothetically - rejected defective 3585 (non-E911 capable) inventory, there would be no need.

It may, peripherally, speak to the questionable E911 capability of the future 3585i (that is presumed to be E911 capable).

Slacker- you wrote from the article- >>"6 Sprint anticipates that 100% of the phones it sells to
distributors will be location-capable by March 31, 2003, but asserts that it will take additional time for distributors to sell out their remaining non-location-capable inventory. <<<

Do you know if all of the position location- capable handsets on the PCS network need to be GPS1 (snaptrak) enabled, or in NOK's case can the be of another technology/ supplier?

Thanks- Jim
