Even Bush tried to distance himself from Simon.

The national republican committee has to be looking at california and wondering what to do about the mess. It used to be a republican presidential victory was likely from California. No more. Now all of California's electoral votes have to be made up in florida and michigan if a republican wants to win the WH. Of course Bush is doing nothing to improve the situation.

Now all we need to do is get the legislature convened and fry his butt.

Oh, along with Bustamante and Burton. We don't want any bad side effects from this.

Does the fact that one party puts up a bad candidate excuse criminality on the part of the other party's winning nominee?
