I believe we should pull our troops out of Germany, since the two countries have united under democratic control.

Korea presents an entirely different situation. Without American troops present, and the belief that America would quickly come to the defense of South Korea, North Korea (probably), would have already attacked the south again. China may have supported the adventure (at least covertly).

Not a good scenario, especially when you consider the North has a million man army, and doesn't care how many people get killed.

Yes, we need to eventually pull our troops home. However, we have to accept our role as the dominant world power, and seek to protect democratic governments where we can. South Korea is worth protecting, until unification day arrives.

I am still mulling over the idea of pulling the troops out.

I think the DPRK would construe that as an act of war and immediately attack.
