Ted arguing against affirmative action is not ignoring history. Its saying that we want an end to deciding important issues based on someone's skin color. Our history has showed us that it is both unjust and also bad in a practical sense when we practice racism such as Jim Crow, or even less serious racism such as affirmative action.

ted,

re: Nonetheless, if there had not been centuries of discrimination in this country, I would agree with your position. However, that's not the case, and your outrage doesn't change anything nor make anything better. In fact, your outrage is two hundred years to late.

Yes, the outrage.

150 years ago you Yankees from the North invaded the south. Raped our women, destroyed our crops and livestock, set everything afire until you got to the coast. After we surrendered, you sent your carpetbaggers to continue to rape and plunder.

I'll send you my address and you can send me a check to clear your conscience. You don't want equal rights, you want MONEY and votes. If you really wanted change, it would result in the DNC becoming powerless because it would not have anyone to continue to exploit.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

The outrage for racism is indeed late. It should have been there 200 years ago. Unfortunately it was not. Lets not make the same mistake again.

Let me ask you (or anyone else reading) a question. Lets say your wife or kid was in a life and death situation and needed medical attention. Would you pick a white doctor that you know is there due to his qualification, or would you pick a black doctor who could be there due to affirmative action. Now how would you want to be a black doctor who was there not due to affirmative action, but due to his qualification, and had his qualifications questioned because he was black. Who does affirmative action help?
