The war of Iraq has been sold to the American public as one that is necessary because Saddam is linked with al Qaeda and therefore, capable of bringing terrorism to the US. This isn't true at all. While the ties to Al Queda are an element of it, much more emphasis has been placed on Iraq's WMD and the human rights issues. Even at the height of asserting Al Queda connections, it was not heavily promoted. The problem is and has been all along precisely what Bush said before he was elected -- that without weapons inspections, we can't know what Saddam is doing. The problem with merely reinstalling the inspectors is that you can't have any consistency. Suppose another Democrat is elected president? John Kerry, for example. A year later, the inspectors are ejected, a weak liberal president fails to respond, and here we are again. Eventually, the nukes WILL get built. Then we have another NK. The human rights issues are staggering. This guy has killed over a million people. Where are the liberals when you need them? The fact is that liberals, after 8 years of no principle, have become totally political, as is evidenced by the hypocrisy between the treatments of the current situation vs. the war against Milosivec. It is sad, but the Liberal party has allowed itself to be consumed with political desire and devoid of principle.

Ted Re..Powell better come up with something solid next Wednesday, or I march Washington.< LOL Oh please, you are scaring me. What is funny, is that while you are talking a big game, one of my sons was there in Wash. a wk ago protesting the war. He believed in his convictions enough to act upon them, not just talk about them. Why don't you do the same, take a month or even better yet, a yr off, and go to Wash. to protest. Maybe you will even get to say hi to Susan.

The info provided last nite is essentially info that's been known for some or all of the past ten years. Since it has been known for years (not all of it is old but a lot is) why did you complain that there is no evidence in previous discussions on the issue? The war of Iraq has been sold to the American public as one that is necessary because Saddam is linked with al Qaeda and therefore, capable of bringing terrorism to the US. That issue has been raised but it has not been the main argument. The main one seems to be talking about how bad Saddam is, the fact that he has WMD and is trying to get more, and more powerful ones, and the idea that we should stop him before he becomes a significant threat.
