I am not acting emotionally. Iraq is an aggressive country. I understand that the US turned on Iraq and on Noriega. I understand that we would not even have been over there if it weren't for the oil. I understand the political rhetoric being used to get the American public on their side. But I also understand that almost every Arab country is hell bent on bringing the US down, so my problem is why only Iraq, why not Saudi Arabia, and Iran also. I think one reason is that Iraq is logistically great for the US to put a presence in the Middle East. It borders most of the countries there and has access to the Gulf which gives the navy access.
Reading your bio, I see you just can't stand any Republican. I am with you on big business selling out our country just to line their pockets with money. But you can't just blanket all Republicans as crooks. You can't talk to people like you that are too far right or too far left, neither listens to what the other says and makes blanket statements about the other side.

You are the most un-American poster that I've ever come across on these boards. Ask yourself this question, When Saddam builds his dirty bomb......Where will he use it and on whom? Would he sell his dirty bomb to some terrorist organization which has a mutual interest to hurt America? Or would he just sit back and think that he's gained some stature with the international community?

Look at all the chemical "testing" that Iraq is doing on the Kurds. Is this humane?

Here's a theory for you to think of. The French, Germans and Russians aren't in because they have the most to loose economically if Bagdad falls. The French have all the prime oil contracts. The Germans have loans outstanding on Drugs,Chemicals,Industrial machinery, etc. the list goes on and The Russians gave Arms to Saddam first when he fought Iran and later for his little tour into Kuwait. These three agreed to be paid in Iraqi oil with interest.

Don't give me any of your rhetorical/hypothetical B.S. because all of your posts are filled with that.

What happend on 9-11 was real. Do you think that Saddam was crying for America that day?

It is quite disheartening to read the many posts on the Iraq issue, and to realize that people are just humans no matter where they live. Our society at the present is just a few steps away from capturing you, Ray, and others like you who have written expression that can be considered subversive to the policies of the US government. Fortunately we still have that freedom despite being contrarians and unpopular to many SI readers.

This goes back to the basics of human nature. Having lived in several countries, I find it amusing that no matter what the wealth, health, and education level of the society, the general population can always be molded to the palms of those who make policies for the country. The population can always be aroused emotionally for certain cause or agenda of the blessed few in control, and can always be counted to support the cause of national interest. By whatever rhetoric that works for that moment and complement the national psyche which can be made to mold the psychology of the population. It is such a powerful idealism to die and defend national interest and security of the homeland. This zeal and fervor is being expanded to cover the globe rather than homeland.

Certainly for the next decade or two, control of the world's energy market will equate to the ability to suppress any potential threat to American economic dominance. That's based on assumption that the economy can support the financial cost for such dominance. It is no longer a policy with the vision of striving for global peace dividend and economic prosperity, but for a future of global subjugation and the expansion of miseries in order to maintain American economic and military dominance and superiority without competition. Multi-national treaties and agreements can be nullified at will because there is no one to challenge it. It is uncertain what the long term impact of such policy. However, it is extremely contrary and opposite to the basic human spirits for independence, freedom and creativity.
