Hamas has mostly succeeded in carving out a Sanctuary in Gaza,

And they can have it. Just wall it up, and then put a hose over the wall if they start giving trouble. :>)

The reality is that nobody wants Gaza with the people in it. And it is very easy to stop people in and out. The Israelis don't go in, and Hamas can't get out if the Israelis want to put a stop to them.

Even countries that say they are U.S. allies in the WarOnTerrorism, give money, weapons, propaganda, to Hamas. Hamas doesn't think the U.S. can stop that support, and they are probably right.

Why? This is a key point. If support for Hammas doesn't stop, there will be no peace in Israel/Palestine and no peace for the US. (A little overstated but more true than not).

I am starting to think that you advocate the US simply surrender to the Islamist. Sell out Isreal, don't bother the rest of the Arab world and go home. Do nothing that might annoy them for fear of another attack. This is the Pat Bucchanan solution.
