Looks like the posters here, myself included, are preoccupied with the now war these days, rather than the distant past. Speaking of distant past though, the last Union widow passed away last month. She lived in upper East Tennessee, about 140 miles away from Chattanooga....married an 80ish vet when she was 16? (Not completely sure of the ages, but close). Never remarried, either, and lived in their original homestead all her life. There is still one Confederate widow alive. Makes the war seem much closer, huh?
