DR. MAHDI AL-BASSAM is a Shia member of the executive committee of the Iraqi National Council and the Committee to Liberate Iraq. He is also chair of the Committe for the Liberation of Iraq, which is seeking to overthrow Hussein and determine the post-Saddam government of Iraq. Other committee members include reps of the American Enterprise Institute, the Carnegie Foundation and the National War College. Former U.S. Congressman Newt Gingrich, Former Representative Bob Kerry, Teamsters President James Hoffa and former Ambassador Jeane Kirkpatrick are also involved. M2
