And we are supposed to feel sorry for you? <<I work in the industry that brought all the wealth here- my neighbors on the other hand did none of the sort.>> I know many who rue the high tech industry and the "wealth" it has brought to the region. <<They just happened to be here and born in the 40s, owned a bunch of middle class homes, moved out, consistently vote to cut every service possible, and gauge their tenants for as much as they can.>> I would bet that real estate has brought more wealth to the region than your industry. <<I don't know how old you are, but if you think the younger generation has much sympathy for the older folks who consistently pass laws for themselves like social security, prescription drug entitlements and proposition 13 you are sadly mistaken.>> Older folks do not pass laws, the voters do, or their elected officials. As for the younger generation, I acknowledge that many are self-centered selfish and arrogant, but believe that most are actually good. <<This group destroyed infrastructure in this state and country for their own benefit, and everybody knows it.>> This is the most ridiculous statement yet. If you answer nothing else, please answer this: Who, WHO, JUST WHO DO YOU THINK BUILT THE INFRASTRUCTURE IN THE FIRST PLACE??!?!? <<Now they are the wealthiest demographic group with the best services. Be damned everybody else. The 20-somethings that work for me hate the elderly.>> I feel for you, with your $1,600,000 house, seemingly incapable of appreciating what you have and instead begrudging anyone else who has anything. The elderly, as a group, have always controlled the wealth. It is the way the world works, people work most of their lives, save a little, buy a house, and hope to be able to retire at some point. Since you feel so strongly about this, and I am sure you would not want to be a hypocrite, why don’t you agree to give up most of your assets when you become “elderly”, say at age 65. I am serious, I know some lawyers that could draw the papers up. That way, you would not have to put up with the next younger generation complaining that you have too much.
