Would be upset if I'd invested money in purchasing a Bobcat and spent time to learn how to use it.....we all invest time and money in learning our trade, and we sell our trade to other people....that's what capitalism and the service-based American economy is all about....or am I missing something?

The guy who operated the Bobcat doesn't know half what I know about how to sell his house and get his money out of it. (He lives around the corner from me and has a very nice upscale house, much newer than mine, by the way). I do a different thing in life than he does. He does OK in what he does. I've done OK in what I do.

I don't want to buy a Bobcat or learn how to operate it. Therefore, I'm stuck hiring the guy who did. My tax guy lives in a very upscale house which I sold to him. If only we all could know how to do everything for ourselves, and never hire a plumber or painter again!

Fatty this isn't just pointed at you personally I want to address this point openly to the thread.
It does take a license to operate that bobcat. A contractors license, insurance and probably business license. If one hires an unlicensed, uninsured worker be advised your homeowners insurance won't cover his or her getting injured. Or are you covered for faulty work or damages by said worker.
