elroy and all, there is a direct correlation between community wealth (read, parental wealth) and the quality of education. there is also a direct correlation between the education level of parents and the quality of schools (and wealth, for that matter).

some folks mentioned the issue of black and white, as though that is related to the problem. it really isn't. it is all about prior education and current wealth (which are both directly related to each other).

african americans in the country started the american game at a gross disadvantage, in general. the "man," if you will, prevented many african americans from being educated a few generations ago. the "man" also prevented many african americans from having wealth.

then, one day, the "man's" slavery was overthrown and the under educated, poor african american folks were left to fend for themselves. undereducated folks tend to yield what? undereducated children... and the cycle continues. education drives economics.

the point? economics drives education and education drives economics. if you have undereducated parents and are poor, there is a high likelihood you are jacked, regardless of color (there are exceptions, but they prove the rule precisely b/c they are exceptions!). if your parents are rich and educated, there is a high likelihood you will do reasonably well. regardless of skin color.

wealth and prior education are the driving forces, not racial background. since undereducated parents who are poor have access to lower quality schools, the cycle continues.

....Ron Dullums....

What an @hole. Became head of the military budget committee
and fought the military every step for funds. Responsible for Alameda air base, Naval supply base and the SF Presidio being closed imo. Paybacks a b____.

Hi Elroy, Skeeter, and Thread, thank you for your well-thought out answers to some questions I had posted. Much appreciate it.

I had another question - does anyone know of a website where you can find the historical sale price of real estate?

Thank you,
Amy J
