you also had a number of new sectors start up in the early 90s. a lot of new networking companies IPOd in the 90-92 time: cisco, bay area net, 3com, newbridge, etc. a lot of database application, or packaged software, companies built off of Oracle databases. online services like Quantum Online (AOL), Prodigy, etc.

Me too. I think that the digitization of analog and paper based information will be an incredible productivity boost and a growth engine as well.
Silicon valley will be back - it has a wide moat in innovation and it is unique in the world as place to be for innovative technology as well as for its quality of life.
