Wanting the law to not allow anyone to do it just so you aren't ashamed of your view is PC to the extreme, and not the function of government.

But the government did exactly that in 1954 when it added the phrase. Look, school is school and church is church. Adults can probably cope as you suggest, but these are children we are talking about.
