I don't think the physical characteristics would be all that different. They might be a bit shorter then average but a lot of the difference in height is due to different diet and healthier conditions. Later menstruation was also probably largely due to environmental issues.

In any case I am mainly thinking about the emotional and mental issues, and issues of character. IMO history gives us no evidence that people where that much different 1000 years ago (the date I picked originally) or even 5000 years ago (although historical evidence from back then is often slim).

I am willing to consider evidence that human character and mental ability has changed a lot within recorded history but I haven't seen any such evidence yet.
