Cary-- Please read, "Constantine's Sword", a very scholarly book by a former priest and now on the faculty of Harvard, James Carroll. He entirely supports, with church documents, your contention that anti-semitism, until after WW II, was official church doctrine.

RE: "...anti-semitism is fundamental to Christianity..."

Whose religion was "improved upon" by Jesus? Who rejected Jesus as Messiah and Lord and still does? Who betrayed Jesus? Who crucified Jesus? The answer to all these questions, Jews! And how unfortunate that Jesus had to celebrate the Last Supper, a Passover Seder, with bland unleavened bread because there were no Christian children then to add their blood to it. This last is not "fundamental", it was just added to make the reason for hatred more immediate.

I recently started an email exchange with a high school classmate. She mentioned that in the third grade a fellow classmate said to her, "You killed Jesus!" She replied, "I didn't even know him!" Now, the precocious accuser is a professor of law at the University of Kentucky, but I am surprised that you don't have the insight that she had at a very early age.
