Most of the fighting occurred after the creation of the state. Take a look at the original Palestine Mandate, the original land given to Israel by the UN, and the results of Arab hostility. You need to work on your understanding of "racial", "cultural", and "ethnic." Jews are a scholarly people. The study of the law, Torah and Talmud, has been the highest calling. Contrast this with the generally low interest in things intellectual among most peoples in most countries. In modern times, more so than in the past, knowledge is power and influence. It also is the basis for successful democratic societies and modern defense establishments to protect them. I don't think that Jews think that they are "racially" superior. They have suffered from "racial" hatred.
