As technology separates individuals from the results of their actions, it cheats them of the chance to absorb and reckon with the enormity of what they have done. Yes but it seems like we could take a slice at any time in history and be able to say the same thing: death-at-a-distance vs. hand-to-hand combat combat. the thrown rock the spear the bow and arrow the catapult the cannon the rifle and so forth...
