Lay skated, pure and simple because of his ability to expose Cheney

Yes, Cheney would not have liked the details of all those meetings that he had with Lay coming out.

But being the biggest backer of Dubya must account for something too.

When Dubya gets out of office, Ken Lay will probably get alzheimer's and conveniently forget everything. Ignorance is bliss. And freedom.

Do you think Lieberman will get off first base in the Primaries? Seems to me that he tries to out hawk the hawks?
And by the time of the Primaries the country will be sick of war as the chickens (and chicken hawks!) some home to roost. Good to see that Perle is getting some heat. May they roast the soles of his soft little feet.

Assuming the Americans win - at dreadful cost to Iraq - they are not going to be welcomed as liberators and will have to become an army of occupation before setting up their stooges - a sure recipe for civil war. And why do people think that everythings going well in Afghanistan with its titular stooge holed up in Kabul? No Taliban that's true - but a devastated country and warring factions. Business as usual in fact.
