This is not a case of not being able to stand the heat; in what is normally an apolitical environment, these people are being penalized for stating their views. That is decidedly unAmerican and an embarrassment, and its being perpetuated by a former Reaganite. Why am I not surprised!

You guys continue to miss the point. You don't have a "right" not to be penalized for stating your views. You have a right to not be put in prison for your views alone. The government did not prevent them from speaking on behalf of the Hall of Fame, therefore no rights were violated!

There are consequences for your actions. If you spew a bunch of un-patriotic garbage and you happen to be a country music singer, you should not be surprised if your market share goes down. If you are some other type of musician, your market share may improve after those comments.

If they have a larger platform, its because they earned it.

I don't believe actors have "earned" a platform to speak and sway public opinion on subjects about which they're largely uninformed. They could "earn" such a position by being right, for a change.

Just tonight I heard Ed Asner, STILL trying to assert that the Iraqi people aren't happy having been freed, and that the freedom, with the attendent problems, isn't really an improvement for them. These people are, to a large extent, extremist liberals who really don't have an appreciation for American freedoms.
