Hi CD,

I'm still way overweight in the CanRoys. This is a good site for anyone putting lots of dough in them. I would suggest reading back a couple of months. You'll recognize the good posters of which there are a few, pretty quickly. Also pay attention to the tax ramifications when held outside the RRSP. You may be missing out on a good thing, I know I was. As a tickler Acclaim has benefits in a non registered account.

The natural gas shortage continues to get worse, and the value of royalty trust has started rising again. They shot up very fast around Feb- March when we had the sharp spike in natural gas prices (a fore runner of prices to come), then pulled back a little, now moving up again.
I expect the peak prices to occur this fall or early winter of 2004.

Nice thing about natural gas - SARS or not, people want to keep their house warm and use electricity.

Hi CD, <<oil and gas>>

I have some stakes in ...
Canada: Enerplus Trust (ERF), NCE Petrofund (NCN), Primewest Energy (PWI)

USA: HGT, SJT

... and have been pleasantly surprised that they actually do pay out. Handily beating my treasury strips (effectively nothing), better than my HK/China shares (4-6%), higher than the SAfrican miners(5-7%), and about the same as my Asian bonds (10%), but not as high as my Pakistani Hub Power dividends (34%) :0)

I do not have a feel for where the gas prices go during the summer (presumably down), where the royalty prices go (I assume not up) and so am reluctant to add at this time. What say you on this issue?

<<tax implication>> HK has none, because we do have great respect for capital and its deserved returns; but Canada deducts a 25% withholding for overseas investors.

I have these on watch list ... and yes, your names would be appreciated:
