I do NOT consider 1xRTT release ZERO or GSM EDGE to be 3G ... Really?

Really !

Neither do most of the financial analysts or research houses in the world, and what is considerably more important neither do (most) carrier prospects or users.

Dr. Mark Irwin Jacobs blew his wad when he sent a public letter to the Koreans asking them to indulge San Diego and Costa Mesa hyperbole, and perpetrate an Orwellian exercise:

September 10, 2001

Representative Kim Hyong-o
Chairman of Science, Technology, Information and Telecommunication Committee
National Assembly
Seoul, Korea

Dear Rep. Hyong-O Kim:

<snip> In my view, the major shortcoming of the pioneering third generation effort in Korea, as well as a potentially costly decision that perhaps should be examined by your committee, is the mislabeling of CDMA2000 1XRTT in Korea as 2.5G technology. (IS-95B is 2.5G technology and the Korean deployments were the first of any 2.5G technology deployed worldwide). This mislabeling of CDMA2000 has reduced the worldwide benefits to Korea of this great accomplishment and allowed one company in Japan to continue to falsely claim the title of first with 3G despite their repeated delays and performance shortfalls. <snip>

Very truly yours,

Irwin Mark Jacobs
Chairman and CEO
QUALCOMM

The Koreans, who participated in the evolution of 3G standards and wideband cdma development from 1992 forward, adamantly refused to dumb down 3G to IMJ's level, but undeterred, Qualcomm sponsored 3Gtoday takes monthly numbers from the Korean carriers 2.5G row and plugs those numbers into their 3G subscriber base.

For the nth time I would like to ask you this question:

Have you read the FM or RFM?
