It is intersting that it took 9/11 for USA to join europe in terms of keeping track of
cashflow to and from, for example, the carribean little islands, as well as many more
laundering places.

And now it seems as USA will also get more active in international tax-agreements
or WTO will step in.

UK has been working hard on the stuff, to be approved as an EMU member, but there
are still many obstacles and needs for special arrangements.

>>>Because France benefits from the existence of Monaco as a separate entity. <<<
I suspect its more a case of certain wealthy folks who have much influence with the govt of France who benefit

I am sure you do. But that is only because you don't know zip about this part of the world.

French have NO TAX ADVANTAGES in Monaco. That is why, there are very VERY few French people living in Monaco. And those are almost exclusively French with other passports.

But tell me how does France benefit? Tourism from folks coming to Monaco to gamble - but France could allow casinos themselves by passing a law.

France already HAS casinos, my dear Bruce.

How about you look it up, if you are so interested? If you are not going to take my word for it that France benefits from the existence of Monaco, and put up misinformed objections, you can at least try to read up on the subject a bit.

>>>I pity anyone who doesn't live in the US<<<
Ho ho ho!
>>Figured you'd get a kick out of that. <<

Yes, I did, thank you -g-

I told it to everyone. You were the life of the party on Friday night on the beach, although you were not there :-)

I saw a good American friend and told him about this Texan who pities everyone else in the world. He laughed at first, and then said "Us Americans, we are not bad people, but we tend to be very misinformed about the rest fo the world. It is sad that this guy is so ignorant, not to mention arrogant and conceited. But we are not all like that..." etc...
