Clappy,

<I suppose I was labeling that as the center for ease of
explanation but see my theory is completely wrong anyhow as
a time travel point of view.>

Was that you in the Harley Davidson commercial?

Silly Wabbit,

Didn't you see the movie "The Time Machine"?

You cannot change the past, only your future.

:o)

How are you?

Fine.

Did you go rock climbing/digging or something neat like that?

No and yes. Just taking a market breather while I enjoy some time with my family - youngest daughter's college graduation ceremony, etc.

time machine would be coveted mostly for its military aspects.

Reminds me of research in the encryption theory area. [Since I have a copy of the PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) algorithm on my hard disk {gotten before it was pulled from the web}, am I in violation of the Patriot Act? Sauron's eye is watching, but does it have a nictitating membrane?]

Bang! Here we go again.

The idea of an oscillating Universe was popular for quite a while. It was my favorite from the fifties, when I first hit these questions. While I don’t “keep up” with these topics as much as I should, I thought that the oscillating possibility was currently out of favor. Even with huge hypothesized amounts of both “Dark Matter” and “Dark Energy”, the best measurements imply the expansion never stops (or at least that was my understanding the last time I attempted to update myself with the current research). While the Universe many seem violently dynamic, nothing is more dynamic than man’s view of the Universe. Think that might be indicative of our level of understanding (ignorance)? Hence, although I enjoy reading about Cosmology, I place much of Cosmology in the realm of speculation – not science fiction, but not well enough “grounded” in testable measurements to be considered science “fact”. ‘Course it’s from these “boundary” areas that many of our major new insights have arisen.
