<We are not citizens of a world community> The rest of the world knows very well that our policies scream these words. The international community will go ahead without us.

Those guys dont realize that we neocons are one worlders too. But we are conservatives and know that this will take time. What puzzles me is why liberals want to get into bed with those folks and give up our sovereignty concerning fp matter now. GST just about said that in his last few posts. Mike

Neocon, there is already a strong international community, but it's not one of governments. Freedom lovers don't need governments to form a strong international community. Governments get in the way. Some people love governments ruling their lives and I can understand that because they have trouble running their own lives and use the governments to control other people, take the others' stuff [or money] and give it to them.

Not all of us love governments, control and confiscation that much.

Already, the levels of trade and global integration have meant the end of Albanian, Chinese, North Korea and American isolationist 'go it alone' ideals. There are still calls in the USA for protectionism and USA presidents enact trade restrictions.

There is huge international trade. Governments are getting in the way of that trade. The USA government is NOT a free trader, contrary to popular myth. But the USA enjoys vast international trade.

China makes mountains of cheap stuff which Americans enjoy. Toyota makes millions of cars. Nokia makes millions of cellphones. Samsung makes millions of cyberphones. Venezuela sells shipsful of oil. Australia makes megalitres of wine. Bali sells happy holidays.

People are surging around the world, intermarrying.

The world community is rapidly forming. Governments will follow, usually late and messing things up. Americans are part of the world community, whether they know it or not or like it or not and they can't do without it. Whether they like it or not or know it or not.

Sure, they can pull up the drawbridge, cut off all contacts outside and make like Mao's China or Albania. But they won't like what happens to the economy. Americans haven't got the brains to be independent anyway. The USA gets by on rented brains, which then, fortunately for Americans, often choose to stay. You can read about it from Fred: fredoneverything.net

Imagine the brain drain if the drawbridge was being raised. Not to mention the money drain.

Welcome to the world community Neo. We just need that reconstituted UN to sort out the rules and deal with the recalcitrants like Saddam, Kim, Osama and Co.

PS: So little time.... that's for sure. Too many hats and not enough heads. Golfers would appreciate my colourful comment. I hasten to add I'm not racist. Some of my best friends are golfers. Few are indifferent.
