Re: Nixon would have needed to pick up both Illinois and Texas in order to win.

And I've heard that the Nixon team decided that the Kennedys would open an investigation into Republican vote theft in Texas, were Nixon to do so in Illinois, putting egg on both of their faces. <g>

It's so useful to have some way to blackmail your opponent in politics, n'est pas? <g>
