Davis didn't get a majority even then. Think about it. That's why Davis will lose the recall. He needs a majority to back him and the 30% that he bought with state money won't do. Actually, I'm torn by that. Recall has been tried in CA 31 times before and never gotten to this stage, the Dems tried it against Reagan in 1968, so it's not some power grab as the Dems/liars say it is. CA Dems deserve Davis. Davis in office means Boxer goes down - that's why she wants him out.

This story is curious. It totally avoids the salient point. It should be "Dem Party is the new third party, weaker now than at any time since the 1920's: ....The poll, conducted for the New Democratic Network, found that slightly more than 40 percent identify themselves as independents, 32 percent called themselves Republicans and 27 percent said they were Democrats . But these so-called "swing voters" were more than twice as likely not to vote than people who consider themselves Republican or Democrat, a factor for the candidates running in the 2004 election. "They have to be appealed to in a nonpartisan way in order to overcome their hesitance of politics itself," said Mark Penn, who did the poll for the centrist organization.
