According to Grasso's new contract, he is entitled to nearly $10 million in severance pay <font color=red>— equal to his salary and target bonus for the next four years, as well as health and life insurance for himself and his wife for the rest of their lives.</font> But he has publicly declined several of the contract's provisions — such as supplemental retirement benefits, a $5 million bonus and funds vested in a capital accumulation plan.

It pisses me off. These <strike>whores</strike> men get rich by laying off hundreds of thousands who get small severance packages yet Grasso has a 4 year severance package and health care for life! AMAZING!

It is little wonder that the far left has such success using class envy to get elected. When the excesses at the top are so huge, it is nothing more than pigs lined up at the trough.

I actually think the whole board of the NYSE needs to resign.

This issue HAD to be settled quickly or it would have sent the market into another tailspin.

I've also said that we need laws that put ordinary folks, like some of us who post here, on the boards of major corporations to lend some sanity to compensation decisions, etc. I'd have suggested "lets see if we can get someone from India to do Dick's job for 25% of what we're paying him. Hell, maybe Alan Greenspan will do it for the raise?"

It is sickening. I can ALMOST understand Cary's politics when this sort of excess is exposed. -snort.
