precisely why I want this problem of large companies dumping their healthcare burden onto the taxpayers solved at a national level.

One thing I have learned in this recession is, there are plenty of employers who actually do you more HARM than good. Oracle is one of those employers. Yes they pay anywhere from 500mm-800mm in corporate taxes per year. But the damage they have done to this industry and to the local work environment is immense. Please, some other state, take oracle off our hands. You can have the massive influx of foreign workers that comes with the "priviledge" of maintaining oracle in your state. You can have the extended court costs required to deal with all the sexual harassment lawsuits generated by a workforce of foreign nationals who are unaccustomed to US labor laws. You can pay for the medical coverage and infrastructure required to support the huge grey labor market attached to oracle, where workers are paid minimum wage in offshore bank accounts. And you also get the extra expense of dealing with any terror threats from this huge immigrant class who you have no facilities to police.

Do we get our money's worth with the 800mm in taxes that oracle pays, on a national level, maybe - on a state level- NO WAY. If Davis's medical law drives oracle out of California- good riddance, imo they should move to India anyway.

There are plenty of businesses like this, Tyson Chicken may be another where the costs of maintaining the business in your state outweigh the benefits.
