Haim, is a one-man minority deciding to pay more for sofa made in the US.

And even if people does that: The guys discover that brinign a sofa from China and wrapping around the upholstery qualifies to call it made in US and profit from Haim's decision. I know a little about protectionism to very much against it.

Haim things this way because he leaves in a country where cheap things available is part of the mindset of the people. America invented "pile them high, sell them cheap". Which is the right way to do.

One person in the US has to earn less money than one Brazilian to have a similar standard of living. Because there most things are expensive because of colsed economy, protection of local companies or multinationals that arrived first, all that the remains of the ideas of CEPAL and Raul Prebisch.

Jay give me one reasonable reason why should I buy products from China if I can chose same or similar products at similar prices from the US ?

Further why should I support those who engaged in the "Cultural Revolution" under Mao and now same individuals embraced "free trade" ?

Why should I support with my money a regime which is not democratic and still uses forced labor in their prisons ?

I can understand that you are very pro China and nationalistic but so what ?

I better give my money to an US worker than to some one that supported the communists and now runs a factory in China.

In any case if I would be forced to chose to buy non American I would prefer to buy from my native Romania than from any other country in SE Asia ...... why because I have nothing in common with SE Asia
