(abortion or murder?)

Does it matter? The behavior is instinctive and adaptive. If there were thought behind it, I'd say it was sensible.

The distinction between abortion and murder is only relevant to humans, specifically humans under a system of laws that grants rights to citizens. There are a lot of human civilizations where the distinction isn't relevant any more than it is with bees.

I think it would clear the air more if people were at least honest with the terminology. Abortion is the spontaneous rejection of an unborn anything by the host organism. The deliberate removal of the unborn entity is murder or infanticide. Until people can honestly deal with the terms they will never properly deal with the issue.
