mph,

Re: The true irony, it seems to me, is that the same
people who are now parsing the speeches to find proof
of a misrepresentation of an imminent threat are largely
the same ones who blamed the President/Administration
for failing to prevent 9/11.

I have to wonder exactly how anyone could have prevented
9/11, if they did not take proactive measures in advance
of the problem becoming an imminent threat.

As one of those who criticize the Bush Administration both for failing to prevent 9/11 and for lying to us about their reasons to perpetrate a naked aggression against Iraq, let me respond.

W/R/T 9/11, it is abundantly clear that that Bush team actively discouraged FBI investigations into al Qaeda operations here in the U.S. and abroad. The testimony of FBI Field Agent Colleen Rowley, and the information from FBI Agent Richard Wright

stands in stark contrast to the whitewash that the FBI is providing.

Here's some very good background on how the FBI tried to suppress investigations into the Bin Laden family and al Qaeda, prior to 9/11:

You also might find the recent CBC Fifth Estate broadcast on "Conspiracy Theories" to be educational w/r/t the murky world of business connections and back-scratching between the Bush and Bin Laden families:

Many of us have become hardened skeptics about this so-called "war on terror". When we read about how Halliburton has been handed sweetheart, no-bid insider contracts, and then abuses the American taxpayer as has recently been exposed in the "Gasoline-Gate" scandal, we see every reason to believe that the "war on terror™" is a misnomer. The real Bush goal is a "war on the U.S. Treasury".

Your Mness,
I guess you and I will have to agree to disagree.

Dead brush and trees from pine bark beetle are "imminent". I see the dead trees daily in many pristine areas that need to be addressed. Is it being done? No. There isn't the $ to do it.

It did not have to be an arson. A very simple electrical storm had/has the same potential. Or as in the case of a fire here in recent years a guy was towing a car throwing sparks for miles and he would not pull over after many attempts

Forest thinning is great and necessary in the west. However in the case of the beetle in a national park do you log the dead and dying or do you clear cut?

Same can be said about the ME,Korea,China. Who's next and based on what evidence? Or who's evidence?
